Diamond Kitchen Science Park 7 Course Seafood Signature Menu

I have heard many good things about the seafood offerings at Diamond Kitchen ,钻石小厨 at Laguna Park Condo. I just didn't get the chance to visit them :)

I was recently treated to dinner at their latest branch at Science Park 1. A tad far for us in the east, but for good food, Eileen is willing to travel ! :D

Location

You can easily find Diamond Kitchen on the first level of Oasis( formerly known as Science Park 1) . It is a big spacious 260 seater restaurant with two private rooms. In the day, you can enjoy looking out of the windows to lush tranquil view of the greenery and a swimming pool. There are also some large fish tanks where a variety of fresh seafood are kept.

Entrance

Menu

What sets this new Science Park branch apart from the one at the east is the new set menu that gives diners the opportunity to indulge in Diamond Kitchen's seafood signature dishes at a fraction of the a la carte price.

Let's take a look at what this set menu has to offer !!

7 Course Diamond Seafood Signatures Menu

Specially crafted to show case the best of Diamond Kitchen,  it also allows Head Chef Kevin Lau to display their culinary skills

Allow me to bring you thru the 7 courses we tried :) Oh before I go on, you can also order these dishes a al carte, but it will be more expensive if you do so. From now till 31st July 2015, you will be able to enjoy this course at $88++ per pax, with a minimum of 4 persons to dine in.  ( usual price $150++ per pax) (

 The food

First up, a refreshing and light dish of
 Shredded Chicken Salad with Abalone
Very delicious with the sesame oil and great as a starter

Super love this !! Has lots of garlic :D
Garlic Steamed Bamboo Clam
Springy Scottish bamboo clam is paried with glass noodles,
enoki muhsroom and sliced water chestnuts. The Hong kong steamed sauce
goes well with the clam and fried garlic !!

For this menu, you can choose how you want the fish to be cooked

Choose from Hong kong Steamed Giant Grouper
or
Superior Claypot Giant Grouper

This is the Hong kong Steamed Giant Grouper

The Giant Grouper is a fish that is prized
for its thick collagen rice skin !
This fish is not easy to cook as the meat is very thick
, but the ones we tasted tasted very nice and freshness ensured !
The part used here is the grouper belly

This is the claypot method.and the fish 's back is recommneded for
this cooking method. Can you see those thick skin ? Goes very well with rice

One of the star dish of this menu is the very wholesome Lobster Porridge
The broth is cooked with chicken stock laced with chinese wine and sliced ginger.
The rice is then socked with the stock and lobsters of coz ! Great on a cold day :)

One of the lackluster dish of this menu..
Stir fried sweet potato leaf with salted fish

And let me present to you

Diamond Gan Xiang Crab

Diamond kitchen's Gan Xiang crab ( 干香蟹)uses Sri Lankan crabs and are
wok fried with several spices to achieve this finger licking good spicy paste !
Totally a crab dish after my heart and belly !

As usual I love to end my meals with a sweet treat !
Lemongrass Jelly- shaved lime and honey ice swimming in cooling
lemongrass water. So refreshing ..so cooling!!

Food and service here is good and seafood dishes are top notch ~ It is a good venue for the family gathering or celebration of birthdays and special occasions !

MyKuali Penang Hokkien Prawn Noodle Soup

From the same brand that brought Singapore and Malaysia the popular White curry instant noodles , Mykuali has once again done it again !

Here's the delicious Penang Hokkien Prawn Noodles ! It's very simple to whip this up! I simply love the sambal chilli paste ! And there is even a packet of crispy fried shallots that comes with the noodles . Add them all in for optimum taste !

I had some prawns, mushroom and veg oh
and of coz an egg for the noodles .

Instructions :
(In a seprate pot , cook prawns, veg and mushroom )

1-Bring 380ml of water to boil in a pot

2- Add in noodle, seasoning powder and that power sambal chilli and let it cook for 3 mins

3- Serve with the packet of crispy fried shallots provided and you are ready to dig in !

Personally, I like the strong aroma of the chili and soup. It does have that prawny seafood taste to it.
Pity the sambal chilli can be considered too oily for some. I don't recommend to drink all the soup , but it does make the noodles taste better !!

You can get your Mykuali Penang Hokkien Prawn Noodles Soup ($4.50)  at all Giant and Cold Storage supermarkets now

Such a joy dinning at Joyden Canton Kitchen

Just last week, I was caught in a dilemma. It wasn't too difficult to get myself out of it..I just needed some time , a good sense of directions as well as knowledge of getting myself from Point A to Point B in the shortest of time and the least of public transport transfer.

Last week's food tasting saw me going from the east to west , spending almost an hour or so on public transportation . At the end of dinner, I was glad I made the choice of attending ~~! To be honest, I was already sold when I took the first bite of food at Joyden Canton Kitchen. Being located at a relatively new mall, HillV2, it may be daunting to travel there especially if one stays in the east.

Joyden Canton Kitchen is part of the popular Joyden Seafood Restaurant located at West Coast. Frankly, I have never tried their food before so I have no expectations whatsoever that evening.

Upon entering the spacious restaurant , I was attracted to the minimalistic interior, and I particularly like the use of wood for some of the decor. It took Joyden 6 mths that involved extensive trips to various parts of Guangdong , trying out dishes etc to conceptualized the menu.

 Soups at Joyden

It is without a doubt that Cantonese love their soups. Joyden certainly lives up to expectations with its interpretation of a Foshan Classic - Chicken with Fresh Huai Shan and Wolfberry in Old Coconut Soup.

Can't believe how clear and light the soup is, and simply love the after taste sweetness
that comes across the palate. Great for sharing among 2-3 persons. $12.80

The 2nd dish isn't really a soup but has a broth..

Signature Sliced Grouper Fillet with Pine Mushroom &
Black Fungus in Rice Wine Broth $17.80

Freshest of ingredients ,cooked in rice wine, makes this
a very comforting dish ! I love the usage of rice wine !

Chickens at Joyden

There are two must try chicken dishes at Joyden. It was a tough choice if you ask me which one of the two is my favorite. Both are cooked differently and both taste equally good!

This is one of their signature dish - Soy Sauce Chicken. It looks as good as it taste!
Marinated with secret blend of supieroir light sauce and other herbs, the chicken is tender.
Rosewater is being used as well and it adds a refreshing and slight floral sweetness to this dish

This may look like hainanese chicken to you but wait ..
it is actually Hakka salt poached farm chicken ($17). It is cooked in a salt and herbal stock
and rested to fully absorb the flavours before it is eaten by us with
Joyden's homemade ginger puree !
Served at room temperature, the meat is tender n we love it with the ginger :)

You will love this dish
Braised homemade beancurd coin with poached shanghai baby cabbage
if you enjoy cooked till super soft cabbage!
These are homemade patties of beancurd, seafood and veggie fried till golden brown.
I particularly enjoy the easy to eat beancurd and the milky broth that was made from
boiling pork bones for hours  . The combination goes pretty well !

This is another NOT TO BE MISSED dish !
Just by looking at this pic is enough to make me salivate ! Home made by Joyden is the premium XO sauce made of dried scallops( 干贝) and jin hua ham ( 金华火腿)which is used in this Fish Maw & Prawns with glass noodles dish  everything is mixed with this slightly spicy sauce and I like how the tang hoon ( glass noodles ) soak up the sauce..Being a chili lover, I though this could have been spicier

There is no ending to Joyden's star dishes..coz it seems like the food we tried
tasted just amazingly good!
Braised pork ribs in aged mandarin peel
isn't like the usual Chinese zi char kind. The meat is "chopstick tender"
Almost like what you eat at some ribs restaurant. Cooking method is pretty interesting..
first braised, then infused with special aged mandarin peel sauce before being broiled!

Joyden not just serves meat dishes,
they also have seafood inspired ones!~

Signature Traditional Rice Vermicelli with Poached Egg White, Crab meat & Scallop
hehee..protein laden dish !!
The bee hoon is soaked with the gravy and I love it with lots of vinegar and pepper :)

Mix it all up !

To complement your meal at Joyden, you can try the cooling
Homemade Hawthorne and Apple Drink
山楂苹果水

Healthy and great for digestion!

We gotta end the meal on a sweet note shouldn't we? :D
Most of us chose the Red Bean soup with dumplings
Unlikely some places where their red bean soup is thick and overly sweet
Joyden's verions is not as thick and tasted really healthy ! I like it..plus
the tang yuans are generously filled with peanuts!

龟苓膏
Chilled herbal jelly
Highly recommended after the meal :) great for cooling down
and good for those with a 'heaty' disposition :)

One can't go wrong with ordering this classic favorite
白果薏米 Barley and gingko nuts drink.
Just the right taste of sweetness for me :)

Joyden Canton Kitchen is truly a gem and is the ideal location a birthday celebration,
get together with friends and family or just a meal after work !

It is a place I can go back again and again :D

The One who ate at Canton Paradise 乐天小香港

After some interactions on Instagram, we finally met for dinner :) Oh, I'm refeering to my dinner with 3 other friends made on Instagram . We have been commenting on one another's photos for awhile and we tot it wouldn't be a bad idea to catch up over a meal. I have already met one of them at an IG meet two mths ago.

It has been decided that we'll eat at Canton Paradise ( part of Paradise Group) I12 Katong. Somehow we had this idea that dim sum will be served during dinner time..but we were so wrong.. :P  Having seen their delicious dim sum photos on a local food blog, we were all tempted by them!

So you can imagine our disappointment when we found out that dim sum are only served in the more to late noon.. But since we were there already, we decided to just order some dishes to go with rice :)

Having already tried their other sister restaraunts such as Paradise Inn, Paradise Dynasty and Kungfu Paradise, I know Canton Paradise will not be too far off the standard of the other places.

大肚婆炒饭 was our staple for the nite.
It has olive, tiny bits of salted fish and chye por ( 菜扑)
It has quite an innovative name don't you think so?
But it was way too salty for us!

 one of their signature dish..
Sauce was good!

Very normal tuofu topped with minced meat
will give this a miss the next time..

There's both meat and veggie in this dish..
Tender slices of beef with broccoli and golden mushroom
The sunny side up has to be mixed in ..
Thumbs up!

鳯爪 aka Phoenix  feet aka chicken feet  in abalone sauce!
how atas is that!!
The sauce goes well with the salty rice

We die die also must have one dim sum dish..
so the feet was quite satisfying

It was the biggest I ever eaten..
that's my iphone for comparison

I have a personal liking for food at Paradise group..
of coz there are hits and misses .. not every dish is good..
Generally they do have some standard :)
I will be back for the dim sum!

Of Yummy 流沙包 ( custard/salted egg yolk bun) at Canton-i

The chinese restaurant my family alwa to at Ion is Paradise Dynasty. I always know there is another chinese restr. on the third floor but just never venture there. So last week was my first time at Canton-i with my aunt.

Started out in M'sia,
Ion is their only outlet in Singapore

Big serving!
I love this chee chong fun..

Couldn't finish this XO carrot cake..
It's nice but oily :X

You just have to eat this!!
The cutest piggy red bean bao!

The best of the day!
流沙包

The skin is purple coz
they added taro to it..

Salted yolk bun is not a salted yolk bun
if the liquid yolk doesn't flow out of the bun!

This one passed the test!!

Eileen Eats- Tanyoto Steamboat

Have you bought any discounted vouchers online? I did, quite a few in fact..mostly of food :P

This is the 2nd last voucher I bought within these few mths. It's one of the best I must say as the food served was really really fresh and quite a lot for 2 girls in fact :)

$29.90 nett per person for Tayoto steamboat at Liang Court was the deal. I asked Wei ting along that evening.

The sliced fish and augus sliced beef were very nice. We were able to create our own sauces too :)

leafy green, golden mushroom
& cold dish spicy chicken

the soups: fish and ma la
fish soup is wonderful!
the ma la is acceptable but
we try not to dip our food in that pot :P

nice augus beef

Our 'main course'
Sliced fish.. we can't finish :P

love these balls hahaha
fish, beef, pork
freshly made

Not in the photos: Bean curd sheet sheets 腐竹
