Inaugural Singapore Restaurant Month 2015

Hello there foodies ! Here's a piece of good news for you this July ! The Restaurant Association of Singapore together with Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) has teamed up together for the first time to bring us the inaugural Singapore Restaurant Month 2015 !( From now till 10 of Aug'15)

In order to promote the use of local produce, 50 restaurants ( including 12 heritage restaurants ) will be using these locally produced fresh ingredients such as eggs, vegetables and locally farmed fishes to whip up some delicious and visually pleasing dishes !

Do you know you can purchase local produce too?  The quality and shelf lives of these perishable items will start to deteriorate , by getting these local produce, you are ensured of the freshness as it reaches you faster !

I am thrilled to share with you 4 restaurants' creative dishes that they have specially crafted for this event !

I joined some of my fellow foodies   couple of weeks ago for a delicious night food trail , sampling these dishes . It was a food filled fun field trip I must add ! A coach was specially catered to bring us around parts of the island sampling these tantalizing dishes

Our first stop for the evening was at Café Iguana , a Mexican restaurant along pretty river scene at Riverside Walk near Clarke Quay.

*Pibil Pescado in Red Chile sauce*
Basically using local farmed seabass to pair with mexican rice
and lots of sambal chili !! I give thumbs up for the chili!
This is going at $30++ inclusive of a passion fruit margarita or you can choose
to replace it with Iguana lager ! Enjoy !

Next we were whisked off in the coach to our next stop- Portico
Located near the Alexandra area is a nice cosy restaraunt that serves
some decent dishes ! I have been wanting to visit for the longest time !
Kudos to Chef Nixon for creating this dish !

This is one of my fav.dish for the night
**Three grain laksa risotto **
Right just at where the prawn head is resting upon is the
** Homemade Pulau ubin sea bass fish cake ** . This is truly a dish after my heart ! Everything u see here constitute a part of the laksa ..thanks to the creativity of the friendly chef . Try guessing what the white foam is ?? ( hint hint..coconut !)
You can get to enjoy this in a bigger serving that comes in a 5 course SG50 set menu for $50

One of the 12 heritage restaurants featured in this inaugural Singapore Restaurant Month is the Prima Revolving Restaurant . Chef  Chan has came up with this protein filled dish. It is absolutely 滋补养颜! .
{ Sautéed Bird's Nest with Egg White } is Prima's creation for this festival

Finally we are at our last stop!! Another local delight that is on most tourists must go list :)
Founded in 1956, Palm Beach has been serving seafood dishes to hungry foodies for many decades !

What u see here is what u will be getting at Palm Beach. { Fried baby barramundi } is paired with a spicy sweet sauce and has crispy bits of cuttlefish ( that resembled yee mee) . Quite a treat as seabass is light and goes well with the sauce . Quite a good deal for $18! . Do you know that S'pore has our own barramundi fish farm ? Barramundi is a type of sea bass and is high in omega 3

It is truly a heavenly festival! One that is befitting for our island of foodies !
There are 50 restaraunts for you to eat around ! For more details and a list of
restaurants , pls refer to the Singapore Restaurant Month website !
