Mrs Toh eats at The Snack Culture Company

I am kinda piqued that how exciting the whole Lavender / Jalan Berseh area seemed to have transformed into a cafe and indie food heaven after I have moved to Bedok.

It was already buzzing with life before, but now it is even more riveting right now as the food scene in that area is so alive and vibrant !

Me and some foodie friends were recently introduced to a restaurant that clearly wants to please the palates of its diners .

Who are they?

The Snack Culture Company is located at CT Hub, couple of mintues away from Lavender MRT station. To be honest, it isn't the most convenient location, but trust me, Snack Culture is worth your time coming to the area where I grew up in :)

The Snack Culture Company is the brain child of the chef, Tat Hon, whom used to hold surgical tools in the operating theater rather than knives in the kitchen. You can say that he is the Jack of all trades, having stints in the F&B industry as well.. his sincerity is clearly seen through the food he created .

After the resounding reviews for their "Around The World in 9 Small Plates’ Degustation Menu", Snack Culture decided to introduce a new ala carte menu, only available on Thursdays !

Plucking from some of the more popular dishes from their 9 plates menu, the ala carte selection is quite substantial, with something to please everyone .

What do they serve ?

Starters

Chilled Black Fungus & Mushroom Salad in Nonya Belachan Mayo Dressing
Light and easy , I quite enjoyed this salad. The spiciness of the Belachan mayo
hits me shortly though..but in a good way ! I wanted more hahaha~

This crispy spam fries with the unforgettable Nonya belachan mayo dip won my heart! The dip which I thought wasn't as fiery proof to be otherwise ,with a lemongrass flavor ,had me craving for more. I almost wanted to lick the little saucer..

Another clear favorite is this
Laksa Crostini - laksa prawn on Snack Culture's in-store baked Haebee Hiam Cookie
One piece of this not enough for me..

Mains

Seafood En Papillote

This seafood baked in a parchment paper bag comes in a total of 5 different flavors, namely, Lousiana Cajun Garlic Butter , Szechuan Mala, Nonya Otah Garlic Butter, Tunisian Shaskuka and last but not least, Garlic Butter and Thyme. I love how the aromatic juices are all kept in the paper bag.. each of these come served with either crispy Roti Prata or pasta ..great to soak up all that seafood essence !

This portion here is good for 2 persons
( this is the Mala version.. not as spicy nor numbing as I thought,
we really enjoyed this! The taste grew on us :D  )

Each bag is $36 ..the serving is generous and can I just
say that the seafood are all sea caught.. not cultivated in some farm..

For a limited time, get the Seafood in a bag FREE when you buy a bottle of their premium white wine @ $89 ! It is a pretty good deal I must say  :)
Seafood and white wine goes hand in hand !

If the normal food scene bores you, then it's about time you visit
The Snack Culture Company for some creative and delicious food!
