Thai Express Celebrates Songkran with 4 new dishes !

Having fun is a big part of Thai culture, and having fun amidst scorching heat is no exception. The hottest month of the year, April would be when the Songkran festival is celebrated in Thailand.

Well loved local Thai food restaurant , ThaiExpress is celebrating Songkran festival |with 4 new dishes! Not only that, you can also bring home a free mini water gun with min.$50 spent ( before GST & service charge), as well as take part in the lucky draw to win a trip to Thailand! ( details at the end of this post )

Before I proceed on , let me bring on the new 4 dishes ! ( The Songkran menu will be avail. from 9th March - 19th April 2015)

It's amazing how many eateries, restaurants and cafes have incorporated  a very common food item with all kinds of other food . It has certainly created a lot of hype! I am talking about non other than salted egg :)

Pla Muk Khi Khem ($10.90) ( thai style salted egg calamari) is one of my favorite among the 4 special dishes!
Each piece of the battered deep fried squid is deliciously coated with the special thai style salted egg sauce ! Has a hint of basil and slightly spicy, it's something u would want more of . There are also bits of the salted egg white ..drooling as i typed this out ! It is rather different from the cze char type of salted egg dish :)

Here's the 2nd dish that I can't resist!

Just can't go wrong with fried chicken wings ..these Songkran wings ($10.90) are deep fried till golden brown before they are being showered with crispy basil leaves , fried garlic flakes , dried chili , salt n sugar ! That spicy , sweet and crispy crunch makes my heart skip a beat ! Would have eaten two if not for the many other dishes to try ! Share the love, enjoy these dishes with your family and friends!

After eating all the starters, it's time for some tummy filling main course! Phad Mee Phuket may not
look that pretty, but trust me, you would be shoving these bee hoon chunk by chunk into your mouth faster than you can say so yummy !! Three whole tiger prawns and bee hoon is stir fried with ThaiExpress' homemade sweet and sour sauce along with dashes of fresh coconut milk .
All the above dishes are quite rich in flavor, it's only right that the last new dish be
lighter and slightly healthier :P  I have a love and hate relationship with this last dish. Totally love it as it's light and so refreshing ! Totally hate it coz it can be so spicy !!

I am referring to non other than Som Tum, or Papaya salad!. It is an evergreen appetizer that is very popular in and out of Thailand. Thai green papaya and carrots are shredded fresh daily at That Express and mixed in with specially concocted papaya salad sauce before all these are being mixed with the fiery chili padi !

Do hurry and visit your nearest ThaiExpress to enjoy these delicious offerings
and don't forget to bring home your mini water pistol!

That is not all!
