Peek into the old Paya Lebar Airport

Alex & I were at the RSAF Open House two Saturdays ago. It was held at the Paya Lebar Air Base which was formerly Paya Lebar Airport in the 60s :)

The bustling arrival and departure halls have long been transformed to offices and gone were the big halls and flight announcements over the air . I was quite amazed how time seem to stood still at this place. Of coz Alex didn't feel that way ..coz he spends 8 hours a day , 5 days a week at this place :P

After being out doors for almost an hour, the blasting air con at this place was a welcome.

the first and 2nd floors
were the departure and arrival halls..

See the mushroom structure?
How cute is that!
It used to be an information counter.
can you imagine tourists and visitors
crowding around the mushroom?

It is so art deco..

Another view of the area

mosaic picture that lined the wall
on the 2nd storey

taking a breather...

Alex spotted this~
Can you still remember this sign!?

I did some research about the airport
and found out that it appeared briefly in
a movie during the 60s !
